Charles Thurman Retires

Charles Thurman, the Rolls-Royce Engine Regional Sales Manager supporting the Mid-West territory has recently announced he will retire in December 2014 after five years with BizJet.  BizJet has hired Dale Morrow to succeed him. 

Morrow comes to BizJet with fifteen years of aviation experience.  A former engine technician, Morrow worked at BizJet in the maintenance division for six years before moving into sales.  During his time in sales, Morrow has worked with several engine types and has a vast knowledge of the corporate aviation industry.  "Morrow has an energy and relentless dedication that will make him a great resource to both current and prospective customers", says Jennifer Hoffman, Director of Engine Sales and Marketing.

Charlie is retiring with over forty years in aviation maintenance.  His experience has ranged from Engine Technician, Field Service Technician, and eventually moving in to an Engine Sales Manager position where he used his extensive engine knowledge and experience to help customers.  "Charlie has been a valued team member at BizJet", Hoffman says.  "He has worked tirelessly on behalf of BizJet's customers, applying his wealth of knowledge of engine maintenance and maintaining his many business relationships. He is a great co-worker and can always be counted on to share his experience with his team mates.  We are grateful for everything he has brought to BizJet during his time with us and wish him the best." 

Morrow started at BizJet in this role in June, 2014 to ensure a seamless succession plan.  Charlie spent this time ensuring a smooth transition of all Midwest sales responsibilities. 


BizJet International Appoints Rick Townsend Vice President

Business Development, Aircraft Maintenance & Refurbishment

BizJet International has recently appointed Rick Townsend as Vice President, Business Development, Aircraft Maintenance & Refurbishment.  In this position, Mr. Townsend will be responsible for developing the Narrow-body Airframe MRO business as well as assisting with BizJet's Narrow-Body Completions sales.

Before coming to BizJet, Mr. Townsend worked in the commercial aviation market by providing MRO support solutions for Narrow-body and Regional Jet operators at Ascent Aviation and AAR Aircraft Services.  He joins BizJet's corporate and commercial narrow-body business units with strong experience to facilitate expanding its narrow-body MRO customer-base.

Mr. Townsend comes to BizJet with over thirty-five years of aviation experience. He holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Management, a Commercial Pilot rating and a FAA Repairman's Certificate. 


BizJet International Signs Supplier Agreement

with Gulfstream Aerospace Corp.

Tulsa, Oklahoma, December 1, 2014

BizJet International Sales & Support has signed a supplier agreement for engine maintenance services with Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation, one of the leading manufacturers of business-jet aircraft with the leading product support network in business aviation. 

The three-year agreement will provide Gulfstream with options for quality engine maintenance and customer support for the Gulfstream GII, GIII, GIV, G350 and G450 aircraft world-wide.

BizJet opens new facility, launches expansion

Tulsa-based BizJet International unveiled a facility April 10 that will house a new product line the company is introducing as part of its long-term growth strategy. At least 60 jobs are being added as part of the newly-announced expansion.

BizJet International Sales & Support announced earlier this year that up to 250 jobs are being added companywide. BizJet currently employs around 300 at its Tulsa International Airport headquarters.

The 40,423-square-foot facility unveiled April 10 is located in Tulsa's Green Valley Center near Pine Street and Garnett Road. The remodeled facility is home to BizJet's new engine teardown product line. BizJet, Lufthansa Technik's 100 percent U.S. subsidiary, has been awarded the new product line as part of a continued plan for growth.

"The United States is the biggest market for serviceable aircraft parts, therefore having this business in Tulsa is a huge opportunity for BizJet to continue it's positive growth momentum," said Manfred Gaertner, President and CEO of BizJet International Sales and Support.

The new product line will draw upon BizJet's extensive engine maintenance experience and operational performance with Rolls-Royce and General Electric family of engines. BizJet will dismantle commercial jet engines such as General Electric CF6-80C2, CFM-56, V2500, and Pratt & Whitney 4000. Once disassembled, these parts will be shipped for inspection, repair, overhaul and eventual sale to other airlines.

"It is simply outstanding that our dedicated teams took a concept three months ago, planned then executed it, opening on time and within budget a program of this size," BizJet Vice President of Engine Services Criss Berry said of the newly-opened facility. "This is just one piece to the overall success of BizJet."

BizJet International completes its first Rolls-Royce Tay 611-8C Midlife Inspections

BizJet International, Lufthansa Technik's 100% US subsidiary and an OEM authorized Overhaul facility for the Tay 611-8/-8C and Spey 511-8 engines, has delivered its first pair of Rolls-Royce Tay 611-8C engines which are installed on the Gulfstream G450.

BizJet has achieved another significant milestone by completing its first pair of Rolls-Royce Tay 611-8C Ten-Year Calendar Midlife Inspections. "A true testament to our team's tenacity was the fact that we were able to accomplish test cell correlation on the digitally controlled -8C engine, while at the same time turning one of the engines in less than 60 days. Overall, we achieved normal production targets regarding turn-time and costs. The successful launch of the 8C program has been validated due in large part to the team's impressive planning process and operational excellence." says Vice President of Engines, Criss Berry. "This team continues to set new standards for Tay/Spey MRO services."

As an added benefit for future customers, BizJet has placed orders with Rolls-Royce for new Tay 611-8C engines which can be utilized as lease engines for customers during their off-wing event. 


BizJet Engines Support Team "B.E.S.T" moving to new facility

BizJet International, Lufthansa Technik's hundred percent US subsidiary based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, has announced its plan to move the BizJet Engine Support Team "B.E.S.T." into a new facility expanding its services.

"The new facility will be co-located with BizJet's FBO services providing B.E.S.T. with additional and dedicated operational space to perform engine troubleshooting through R&R‘s" says Caleb Benner, Manager Customer Business and Field Services. "While we continue support of previous, current, and future customers with focused Spey and Tay engine experience, our team is ready to launch from our centrally located facility here on Tulsa International Airport to support our customer's engine needs anytime, anywhere around the world."

The new facility offers over 33,000 square feet of hangar space, dedicated conference rooms, and other amenities so that pilots and crew can be comfortable while their engine maintenance is being performed.

BizJet International delivers first BBJ Completion to Chinese Nanshan Group

BizJet International, Lufthansa Technik's hundred percent US subsidiary, has delivered its first Boeing Business Jet completion to Chinese Nanshan Group. This was the first private BBJ delivered to the Chinese market. BizJet will start with the next BBJ completion project for anotherChinese customer in November 2013.

The aircraft is equipped with a state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment and cabin management system with Live-TV and ipad integration. Each single seat has its own independent in-arm monitor with full audiovideo-on-demand (AVOD) capabilities. The VIP interior comprises a VIP Bedroom and two lavatories with a luxurious lounge and meeting area. There is also a large galley in the AFT of the aircraft as well as seating for staff and crew.

BizJet International inducts its First Rolls-Royce Tay 611-8C engine into production

BizJet International, Lufthansa Technik's hundred percent US subsidiary based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, has inducted its first Rolls-Royce Tay Mk611-8C engines into facility for maintenance.

"We are well underway in achieving a significant services role with the induction of our first two Rolls-Royce Tay 611-8C Midlife inspections and completing the first half of correlating our test cell for the -8C" says Criss Berry, Vice President Engine Services for BizJet.

He added: "Our team not only executed flawless removals and introduction of our launch customer's engines while satisfactorily completing our cell's performance and diagnostic tests for correlation, we also maintained normal production targets regarding turn-time and client costs. This is a remarkable validation of our teams planning and operational effectiveness."

BizJet will deliver the completed engines to the customernext month.

BizJet is already an authorized overhaul facility for Rolls-Royce Spey Mk511-8, Tay Mk611-8, and Rolls-Royce Tay Mk611-8 engine. BizJet's service portfolio on all engine types includes engine repair, module refurbishment and full overhaul. In addition, BizJet offers a field support team. BizJet International starts construction on new FBO

BizJet International, Lufthansa Technik's 100 percent USsubsidiary based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, has begun construction to refurbish one of its hangars to meet the growing customer demand for its Fixed-Based Operator (FBO) services.

"We are very excited about this new location and the added services we will be able to offer" says Wendy Worden-Carr, BizJet's FBO Manager.

The new FBO will feature a more convenient location on the north side of the airfield and will also allow BizJet to expand its services to include over 33,000 feet of hangar space for aircraft parking, as well as 2,500 square feet of space dedicated to a Pilot's Lounge, conference room, snooze rooms, showers, and more.

BizJet FBO success is evident by having been recently voted a CAA Preferred FBO again in 2013. "We are so honored and grateful to have once again been named the CAA Preferred FBO at Tulsa International Airport," says Worden-Carr, "We couldn't possibly have this honor without the wonderful customer support that BizJet is so fortunate to have." 


Bizjet International FBO Named a Corporate Aircraft Association Preferred FBO

For the fifth consecutive year, BizJet's FBO has been named a Corporate Aircraft Association (CAA) Preferred FBO. CAA reported that BizJet received an overwhelming amount of votes with great responses on outstanding customer service. Pilots and Schedulers voted for their preferred FBO from July 10th through 16th.

Airbus Corporate Jets awards again Lufthansa Technik as best VIP cabin outfitter

For the second time in succession Lufthansa Technik was named by Airbus Corporate Jets as the "best VIP cabin outfitter" for the work done in its completion centers in Hamburg /Germany and at BizJet International in Tulsa (OK) in the United States. The award was presented for the first time among the official Airbus Approved Outfitting Centers in 2012.

Dr. Hans Schmitz, Senior Vice President VIP & Executive Jet Solutions at Lufthansa Technik, accepted the award at the EBACE 2013 in Geneva, saying: "I would like to thank all Lufthansa Technik employees within our VIP business for their permanent engagement and discipline. We are extremely proud that we have been able to keep our high level of performance and quality in our VIP business which has led to this re-acknowledgement by Airbus Corporate Jet."

Over the last few months, Airbus Corporate Jets undertook extensive evaluations of the individual Completion Centers in its network as part of the turnkey contracts it maintains with those centers. The evaluation considered points such as time, cost and quality commitments and technical planning. Both Lufthansa Technik's Completion Center in Hamburg and that of its U.S. subsidiary BizJet International in Tulsa, Oklahoma were evaluated and the results were included in the final assessment.

Lufthansa Technik, a leading provider of technical services for commercial, VIP & Executive jets, and Yunnan Jingcheng Group, one of China's leading companies that specializes in construction & tourism, and headquartered in Ruli, China, have signed a completion contract for a Boeing Business Jet. BizJet is already an authorized overhaul facility for Rolls-Royce Spey 511-8, powering the Gulfstream II, III and Rolls-Royce Tay 611-8 engines, which power the Gulfstream IV/IV-SP.

Lufthansa Technik keeps its high level of workload in the Asian VIP jet completion market. From the beginning of 2012 to February 2013 Lufthansa Technik has delivered eight Airbus Corporate Jets and Boeing Business Jets to Chinese and other Asian customers.

The aircraft were completed in Lufthansa Technik's completion center in Hamburg/Germany and in Tulsa/Oklahoma, at BizJet International, Lufthansa Technik's hundred percent US subsidiary. Another BBJ will be delivered to the Chinese Nanshan Group, located in Longkou on Jiaodong Peninsula, in the second quarter of 2013. Further three narrow-body aircraft completions from Asian customers are still in Lufthansa Technik's orderbook.

"The Asian and especially the Chinese VIP aircraft market are significantly increasing every year. We are very proud that several customers from this region set their trust in our abilities. Thanks to our careful strategy and the precisely controlled build-up of capacities and capabilities we have been able to handle the high workload of the last year without any compromise in quality or adherence to schedules. The Lufthansa Technik VIP-maintenance services comprise a large variety of maintenance, repair and overhaul services for aircraft, components and engines. Mobile teams run planned maintenance events on the customers' aircraft at their homebase. Dedicated emergency teams support Lufthansa Technik customers in Aircraft-On-Ground situations worldwide.

In addition to the actual business with VIP customers from Asia Lufthansa Technik is currently completing one Boeing 767 and two Boeing 747-8 wide-body aircraft plus one BBJ from Middle East customers in Hamburg.

BizJet International is currently working on two BBJ and an ACJ318 aircraft from Asian customers.

Both completion centers in Hamburg/Germany and Tulsa, Oklahoma/US have to date completed and modified over 90 wide-body and narrow-body aircraft for private and government customers, among them more than 15 Boeing 747 jumbos. 


Former BizJet officers charged with Foreign Bribery

On Friday, April 5, 2013 the U.S. Department of Justice unsealed charges against four former executives of BizJet International Sales and Support Inc. for their alleged participation in a scheme to pay bribes to government officials in Latin America.

"The company has cooperated fully with the Department of Justice and resolved these issues over a year ago. The individuals who have been charged are no longer with the company." 


BizJet International seizes new business at NBAA
